My relationship with health and healthy lifestyle started when I was in the career of pharmacy. I graduated from the university in 2010 and work for costa Rican social service for a year as the pharmacist for small town on the Caribbean of Costa Rica.
During the whole length of my studies I went through a process of “awakening”, so by the time I was ready to graduate I was able to see a little bit beyond the surface of western medicine and into the darkness and atrocities of the pharmaceutical and health industries world wide, and the year i spent as a pharmacist was enough of an example for me to understand how limiting and how disempowering for people western medicine was and allowing me to make the final decision to step out of orthodox approach and take a sabbatical year that would basically initiate me into alternative therapies.
Through out this sabbatical year, not only did I become a more discipline practitioner of yoga and meditation, but I also decided to learn different types of massages, reflexology and reiki, and little by little, a basic massage protocol started to evolve into my very own offering, and the combination of my academic knowledge with the new alternative options that where making their way into my life.
As I started to hold space and give both physical massages and energy session, I began to realize such an immense potential to help the healing processes and transformation of people with the use of all this new tools, I even saw very clearly how positive 1 single session would be on the health and awareness of an individual, compared to pharmacy, and the illusion of control that medicine sometimes give to people, so I decided that this was gonna be my new way of serving and helping others, through the use of my hands on a safe container.
Through the years of practicing massage and energywork I have come to understand the immense benefit that this has, on one hand, it is a very powerful and poetic action towards self love to take the time, energy and money to be held by someone for 90 minutes, to be able to feel safe and open up to receive and to be supported and held by someone else. On the second hand, the importance of the space for relaxation, where we allow the self healing mechanisms of our body to be activated and all the tools and guidance to go back to a state of balance and harmony, and on the third hand, after the shamanism appeared on my life, the importance of sacred space in the process of healing, every space I hold now, that be for yoga, shamanic work or massage, is sacred space, a space held by the lineages that I walk with plus a space where all dimensions conspire for the benefit of the patient.
A holistic massage session will leave you feeling relaxed, renewed and recharged, plus its a great way to integrate other transformational events to find a sense of balance and clarity, but know one thing for sure, this is way more than just a massage.
